Certification exam at end of class on January 9. Course will be held at DeLille Cellars Event Space. Covid vaccine required to attend in-person classes.

This certification course aims to provide students with the product and service knowledge necessary to excel in wine-related positions in restaurants, bars, retail outlets and winery tasting rooms.

Who should attend: This course is ideal for students preparing for their first job in the wine industry or for consumers seeking a formal introduction to wine.

 

Students with more wine experience may elect to bypass WSET Level 1 and enroll directly in WSET Level 2 Award in Wine.

Classes to be held at Washington Athletic Club, 1325 6th Avenue, Seattle, WA. Certification Exam: to be taken online on Saturday, June 9 at noon (or other scheduled exam time). Covid vaccine required to attend in person classes.

The WSET Level 2 Course offers a strong foundation in the world of wine and covers all major grape varieties and wine styles, key world wine regions, label terminology and professional wine tasting technique.

Students will build a comprehensive understanding of wine through outside reading, lectures and discussions, and evaluation of over 40 wines using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting.

Who should attend: This course is the ideal starting point for professionals or enthusiasts who want to take their knowledge to the next level. Although there is no prerequisite for this course, many of our students find it useful to begin their studies with the Introduction to Wine Series or the WSET Level 1 Wine Course.

About the course: The WSET Level 3 Award in Wine Course offers a challenging and in-depth examination of the world of wine including all major wine regions, grape varieties, wine styles, viticulture, winemaking, food and wine pairing, labeling laws and terminology, and professional wine tasting technique. 

The course includes approximately 40 hours of classroom instruction including lecture, discussion and tasting of approximately 90 wines using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting. In order to be successful in this course, students should also budget time outside of class for reading, studying, tasting and completion of homework assignments. 

Course tuition includes all tasting fees, course textbook, study guide, exam fees and course certificate.

Who should attend: This advanced level course is appropriate for students with a strong foundation in wine knowledge and tasting technique.  The WSET Level 2 Award in Wine is a recommended prerequisite. 

About the exam: The certification exam at the end of the course includes blind evaluation of 2 wines as well as 50 multiple choice questions and 4 short-answer/essay questions. Students who successfully complete this exam are awarded the WSET Level 3 Award in Wine.
